In poker, when it comes to large blind misses: If a player fails for any reason blind big, he can not play in any hands until they cover all blindove which failed. Little blind be binding and must be given before hand. If the player can avoid giving the statutory small blind just waiting for the big blind to come to him.

Wisden – The Cricket Guide

Meticulous records and detailed facts have been maintained since the beginning of cricket, which dates back to a few centuries. Facts and details about early cricket test matches have been carefully upheld since 1877. Because of the very nature and the long history of this team sport, huge amounts of statistical data and a rich collection of fascinating cricketing stories have been amassed. The upcoming Ashes series of 2009 too will not be any different. But, where does one go to get all the information about cricket?

You simply have to look for a Wisden. This Cricketers’ Almanac is considered as the Bible of Cricket and was first published by John Wisden, an English cricketer in the year 1864. This Almanac is being published every year since. While the Almanac is usually weighed down with about 1500 pages of cricket facts, the very first edition was published with just 112 pages and had to be filled in with details that were not related to cricket in any way, like dates of certain English Civil War battles.

Though the Wisden first made its appearance in shades of salmon pink, it was given its present easily identifiable color of yellow on the 75th edition in the year 1938 which also commemorated the appearance of the woodcut image of two Victorian gentlemen on the cover, playing cricket. Michael Vaughan was the first “real” person who appeared on the cover of the Almanac in 2003.

The Wisden Almanac is literally indestructible. In 1944 the Wisden factory at Mortlake was completely destroyed after it was hit by a German bomb, but the production of the Almanac was continued without much trouble at all, as all the information was present in the then current Almanac.

Another interesting fact about the Wisden Almanac is that it just had 16 editors in all of its 146 years of existence. The shortest service duration of an editor is recorded as one year and the longest as 34 years.
Wisden’s Cricketer of the Year is one of the most acclaimed and oldest honors in sporting events and was started way back in 1899. The 300th Wisden Cricketer of the Year was declared in the year 2006. Claire Taylor of England was the first woman to be honored with the title in 2009. Once a cricketer receives this honor he/she will not be eligible for nomination a second time.

Today, Wisden is available online as an associated website called Cricinfo. This online almanac is packed with massive archives containing statistics and records of all the matches and events in the history of cricket. In accord with the reputation of Wisden, the website too is most probably the most complete conglomeration of all information related to cricket in the world. The site provides all and every information that you would want to know about cricket since its conception. The Cricinfo Stats guru can be used to find out any information on cricket, be it players, stadiums, countries, events or officials.

Watch out for the latest statistics and fabulous facts in the upcoming event of the year, the 2009 Ashes Test series.

Raise Bets And Put Heads Up

Poker is a famous hand game which had its origin in roman era. This game was popular and is played by most of the people today. This game is not so easy and involves various strategies. All these strategies are simple and make a player win the game within less time; however there is one strategy which makes a player the leader. This strategy is called as trapping. Trapping makes a player put the opponent in tension and diverts him from the game. It makes the game more interesting. In order to be away from traps and play the game with a winning motive, one should first know the meaning of a trap. A trap is a play where the opponent having strong hand shows weakness and makes the other person play a hand. For example if the player has an ace high flush then he puts up small bet, looking on it the other players having still less hands think of making more bets and finally fall into the trap.

In order to set the trap perfectly each player should know the importance of a monster. A monster is not an over pair nor it is the top pair. It is a hand where player puts his hole cards saying that they are the weakest hands. A two pair is the weakest monster and it depends on the board having flush and straight possibilities. If a table is unpaired then the set monster comes into existence. For example if a player is holding J-7 and the board is reading K77 then the player has two straights. When these things are flopped then the result will be having monsters and they lead to full houses, straight flushes and quads.

When a player found a monster and is ready to trap the opponent then he should first think of the ruler of cards i.e. he should think or Ace existence. For example if a flop has put up ace into existence then the situation is perfect for trapping. In this situation the player has to put a strong bet when the ace comes into existence. This would be the bet for half of the pot. Sometimes most of the trappers check the  flop. This gives an extra boost to the poker player and gives him more chance in laying the trap. In order to make the trap more powerful each player should be straight forward.  Most of the times in such situations the opponents get trapped and wont come out of the situation but there will be some occasions where the player himself gets trapped. This situation occurs when the opponent is short stacked. The bet placed by the player can make his opponent to fold or go in. In this situation the player has to move ahead and check. This makes the opponent hang himself. When there is no way to act then the player should blindly follow the opponent.

I will start to learn how to play Texas Hold’em

Now I have decided to start to learn how to play poker. I can not continue loosing money every time my brother visits. I do not really know how I can learn about this game but I think I will start off by reading a nice poker book. I have bought one called The Book of Bluffs and it is written by Matt Lessinger. I really hope that this book will teach me a lot of poker. My brother is very good at bluffing and I hope I can learn how to do that too. He always fools and tricks me but the next time we play poker I will amaze him. I will study hard from now on.

I won!

Yesterday my brother visited me and of course we played some poker. We started by playing Seven card stud and he won the first game. After that we decided to play Texas Hold’em and now my luck changed. I am so glad I studied the book because now I could bluff and for the first time in my life my brother got beaten by me. All the years I have lost while playing poker with my brother and now I won just because I had read a book! This is really amazing. I think I will continue and study even harder. I will buy new books and I have heard that there are some nice films about poker as well. It is nice to just see a film, so I think I will go and buy one immediately.

Black Jack is nicer to play

Now I have read two poker books and I have watched three films about poker. I have learnt a lot and I sometimes choose to play poker at Internet Casinos, but I must say that I like Black Jack better. It is much easier to play and I love it because I can focus on the dealer and my cards. I do not like it when there are a lot of players involved. It is too much to think about when playing poker. I get very tired and at the end of the evening I can not focus and I end up loosing money. I think that tomorrow I will start the gambling evening by playing for free at a poker table but I will finish the evening by playing for real money at a black jack table. Even though I have improved my skills playing poker I am much better at playing Black Jack.

An evening gambling with my friends

My friends are also into gambling. We usually play Black Jack when we have our gambling evenings but yesterday we started by playing poker. As you know I do not like poker that much but as I have improved my skills I decided that it would be nice to play some poker. I was the one that suggested that we should play poker. I should not have done that. I immediately lost a lot of money. I discovered that my friends are very good at poker. I did not know that. Now I must study the game even harder. Oh, I get so tired. Why does everyone want to play poker. It is much nicer to play Black Jack! As the evening went by I became more and more annoyed and after several hours one of my best friends suggested we should play Black Jack instead. I was really happy and the evening ended up as a very nice gambling evening.

Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey was born in California but was later moved on to New Jersey when he was a three-month-old baby.

His love for the game of poker took shape in New Jersey telemarketing firm in end of 20th century. It all stared when his grandfather taught him to play 5-card stud and by 16 he started playing for money.  He is well known as ‘Tiger Woods of Poker’. He started his pro poker career in Atlantic City where he got his other nickname ‘No Home Jerome’.
Ivey’s first title came when he was 23 at Pot-Limit Omaha event. He is considered to be one of the finest players worldwide. His income is over many million dollars every year. He is the youngest player to attain 5 WSOP bracelets. His game speaks for him and he is more poplar because of his piercing stare.

Phil Ivey is one such poker player who is always in the limelight. All the leading magazines constantly interview him. He is always his honest self while giving answers to any kind of question. He never showed diplomacy or concealment in is answers. He was at his ultimate best when he confessed that he sneaked into casinos at the age of 17 when the actual legal age was 21. He had a fake id of Jerome Graham and he worked with it for 2 or 3 years before he put out his real name. In a way it projects his love for the game. He tried very hard in making money at poker from the age of 22. His inspiration to play poker for a living came when he saw other people and thought what could be better for a living than playing cards for money. He did have his apprehensions and fears about losing but he says he is not a best manager of money and play till the end of his last penny.
Professionally and personally too Ivey always respected the group playing for Full Tilt. He said that those people are always close to his heart. He always takes his time out to play Full Tilt. He averages it about 10 hours a week. Another interesting characteristic of Phil is that though he reached stars in the early stages of his career he always kept his feet firm on the ground. He recollects that his initial earning of 1 dollar is always special and memorable to him. In this kind of game people generally tend to have a mentor or teacher, but our Ivey was an exception to that too. He has his own trial and error method. His method is also simple as him. He learnt a lot by watching other players play and then think about it.

Ivey’s current focus is on cash games rather than the tournaments. The irony here is that he has won as many as 3 bracelets at 2002 World Series of poker. This achievement made him to be one of the contenders for the most number of wins in a single year. The beginning to his wonderful poker career started when he became the first person to defeat Amarillo Slim heads up. From 2002 to 2005 he got placed in the top 25 players, 10 being his best in 2003. His current ranking is 61.
Ivey’s interest in poker was rewarded in the form of 3 outstanding honors with the exception of big money. He was named as the player of the year by the UK Gaming awards, AllIn magazine and Bluff magazine in January 2006. His additions to his achievements have always been on a roll. Again in February 2008 he got his virgin WPT championship winning at Los Angeles Poker Classic. This victory made him one of the top 10 money winners through a tournament.

Though Ivey’s list of accomplishments is innumerable, life wasn’t as simple as it seems to him. He had to face many failures in his life before he made it onto the top. Moreover these obstacles came early in his career. One such example was that he lost many WPT events by being eliminated in the initial stages. Same was the case with the European Poker tour where he stood second to Bjorn-Erik Glenne. In another event called European Poker Masters he ended 7th where he was actually one of the favouraties to win. The speciality of this particular event was that it was Europe’s first of its kind independent poker tour.It also had the best players from all over the world.Ivey frequented The Big Game conducted at Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. He once gave a big shock to the Texas billionaire Andy Beal. There is a group of people  called ‘The Corporation’ who happen to group in money against Beal. Ivey was part of this group when he shocked Beal by winning over him. And this made Beal to take a hard core decision of leaving the game forever.Apart from taking part in tourments he also played teacher to the budding poker player Victor Ramdin who later won WPT.Additionally he also put his foot forward in the design of Full Tilt Poker. He is also seen playing online.

Just like many of the sportspersons Ivey had many ups and downs in his life. In an event called National Heads-Up Poker Championship he lost to Don Cheadle and this defeat is termed as the consecutive third loss of the superstar in the first round itself. But these defeats did not deter him and he bounced back higher than ever winning WPT in 2008.

As for his personal life he is happily married to his high school beloved Luciaetta. They reside in Las Vegas.Apart from poker Ivey is also an ardent supporter of a Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets and he is often seen sporting their jerseys. He is also interested in cars .And this can be seen when he drives his MercedesBenz SLRMcLaren.
In hobbies vedio games top the list. The others include prop betting and golf .His determination placed him third in the inaugural World Series of Golf and this depicts his multi tasking capabilities. This game can be called a mixture of  golf and poker where betting takes place on holes.Additionally he also hosts a superhit web reality poker show called The life of Ivey at pokerroad.com.

A great movie

A time ago I saw this movie about a guy and Black Jack, I cannot seem to remember what it is called but it was great.  This guy was in school and a real studier but he could not afford some good school so he applied to get a scholarship, but he had to tell a big life experience from his life. The problem was that from all the studying he had no other experiences so he was going to get an experience before he would be able to get the scholarship. Suddenly his teacher offers him a big chance to earn the money for his education. The offer was to go with a group from his school of bright students to Las Vegas and play the Black Jack tables. They were counting cards and winning a lot of money. At first he thanked no but there was a girl that he liked in that team and she convinced him to join them. After a little hesitation he decided to join them and learn to count cards. After learning the ways of counting he and was tested by going to a small casino in his hometown, he passed the test and was ready to go to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas they made a very large amount of money and it was going really well for him. But he started to neglect his friends that he had before he was starting with the card counting. After a few trips to Las Vegas he had a very large amount of money but he lost his control and lost almost the same amount of money that he had won already. The teacher and leader told him that he had to pay him back for the lost money but he refused and told the teacher that he and the rest was going to go without the teacher. The teacher became very mad and framed the counters. They were busted and the main character was beaten up, when he came home he noticed that all his money that he had won was gone, stolen by the teacher. The main character told the teacher that they were going to make one last stunt and take more money than ever. The teacher agreed and they went to Las Vegas. But what the teacher did not know was that the student had made a deal with the casino and the framed the teacher that they had wanting to catch for a long time. This basically is the entire movie might have missed a few parts but I really liked it and I hope you can find out what movie it was.

The risks of gambling

There are many risks when you play Black Jack or anything else, like poker. You could lose a lot of money just by playing dumb, that is why you will have to play smart and I will tell you how to do that. You should think to not play for more money than you can afford and not to play against very experienced players so that you end up getting ripped off from all your money. Playing poker can be very addictive and makes you want to play more and more and you end up taking massive loans if you lose a lot of money.

How to learn to play Black Jack

When I was young and wanted to learn about how to play Black Jack I started by watching some films. I found some that were really interesting and educational. If you are interested in watching a Black Jack movie just look for it on the Internet. There are some nice films to be found.

After a while I started to read books about gambling and casinos. I got some interesting tips from the book on how to play Black Jack. After that I started to play and at first I played only to learn. After a while I became a better player and I had the guts to start to play on Internet casinos.
